Hi all,

I'm 57 years old and newly retired and one of my retirement goals is to focus more intently on my esoteric practices, hence my arrival here at TaoBums. I've been reading the posts here at TaoBums for a while and finally decided to join.

A little bit about me: I've been meditating and practicing Hatha Yoga since I was 12. When I was 25 I was initiated into Transcendental Meditiation. I've been practicing Tai Chi Chuan since 1979 (William C. C. Chen) and practicing Healing Tao techniques since the publication of Mantak Chia's first book in 1981 (Awaken Healing Energy Through the Tao). I also have an extensive library of books on yoga, Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong and metaphysics from which I have learned (and which I'm just starting to catalog).

My journey so far has been good. But the more I learn, the more I realize that there's a lot I don't know. I'm not normally a joiner (more of a loner), but I thought I would join your community because I feel it will enrich my practice, and hopefully I might be able to enrich yours.

Thanks for having me - smile.gif

Hi AugustLeo

good to have you here, I'm glad you decided to join!

You're obviously very experienced, what's your daily practice like now?

Yes, at first experience this chasm of not knowing is frightning and ungraspable... I've been finding this dark chasm the greatest source of nourishment in my life... letting go of the drive to 'grasp' it is simple but very difficult...

Not so experienced really, just been at it for a while. My practice consists of a few moving and still meditations that you are all familiar with, I'm sure. My focus has been on practices associated with body energy.

I'm currently thinking of revamping my practices, hence my presence here. I've made some progress against my initial yardstick, but I think my initial yardstick was misguided by my youth.

When I was young, I had lofty goals, but not enough time or discipline to distinguish reality from fiction. These days, I have the time and the discipline and I'm more interested in reality than fiction.

I don't know anything about reality myself, but welcome to taobums!

Thanks for the welcome Yoda. I don't know anything about reality either! laugh.gif But year by year I'm more and more aware of the fictions that I've allowed to shape my life. sad.gif

I figure that when I've removed all of the fictions from my life, all that will be left is reality. smile.gif
