To the Tao Bums Community,

Hello everybody, my name is John. I'm a 20 year old male who has had an interest in physical exercise and martial arts for as long as I can remember.

My current levels of training in the martial arts aren't anything great. My uncle was a very accomplished marshal artist from what my father told me, holding a 4th Dan in Judo. My uncle never talked on a very technical basis with me, but he did teach me the basics of Judo when I was around 9 and quite a few different chokes and grapples. Frequently I even observed him in very deep forms of meditation, and there were times where I could have sworn that he would literally radiate a feeling of something. I've asked my father about it and he told me that my uncle used to practice Qigong.

My uncle though has long since passed away after a bad car accident. My father was never into martial arts, so I'm really confused who I should turn to should I wish to continue my training. I came across this website a few days ago, and it feels like I can really learn something from you guys. I've always wanted to achieve a deep harmony within my self and learn the ways of Qigong and other sort of cultivation methods. Are there any books that you guys would be able to recommend to start me off?
